For the
young and young at heart, a wide variety of activities and
places of interest are available within a five to fifteen
minute drive. Downtown Old Orchard Beach, just a mile away on
East Grand Avenue along the shore, has its famous pier, shops
and various entertainment facilities such as
Palace Playland, Pirates’ Cove Miniature Golf, many
restaurants, as well as fun night clubs with dancing and live
entertainment. Downtown features fireworks every Thursday
night.

Nearby at
either end of the beach are Pine Point and Camp Ellis, which
feature quaint, working waterfronts and lobster pounds with
excellent seafood restaurants close by. Deep-sea fishing and
whale watching charters are available.
The best golfing in Maine is available right here in Old
Orchard Beach at the
Dunegrass
Golf & Country Club.
Funtown/Splashtown, the area’s biggest amusement park
featuring
the new super giant roller coaster, and the Aquaboggan Water Theme Park with grand prix racecars, a
mountain of gushing water and every imaginable way to cool off
in the summer heat is a short ten-minute drive away.

Horseback
riding facilities are featured in neighboring Scarborough,
along with live harness racing and fine dining at the
Scarborough Downs racetrack. Nearby, oceanfront state parks
offer scenic picnic areas, nature walks, bicycle paths and
beach facilities. Always fun, scooter and kite rentals are now
available within easy walking distance.
Discover the local flora and fauna at the nearby Scarborough
Marsh Nature Center where you can rent a canoe and leisurely
paddle your way through a maze of waterways in Maine’s largest
saltwater marsh.

Portland,
Maine’s largest city 15-20 minutes north has the historic Old
Port District with many quaint shops, galleries and
restaurants. Enjoy an island boat excursion to view Casco Bay
sights, historic forts and lighthouses. Shopping at great
outlets and the ever-popular
LL Bean
Retail Store in Freeport is an easy drive north of
Portland just 35 minutes away.
